Pusch Ridge over Eagle, Idaho 10-6 to win the Chris Moon Memorial Classic

Pusch Ridge beat Eagle, Idaho 10-6 to win the championship of the 2024 Chris Moon Memorial Classic held at Cherry Field in Tucson this past week. The Mustangs (7-1) are the top-ranked team in Idaho and the Lions are now 12-4 overall and 4-1 in ranking games with the first set of official rankings set to be released on Tuesday.

The Lions scored six runs in the first inning to set the tone and then three more in the top of the fourth to hold the Mustangs away after the team cut the deficit down to 6-3 after three innings of play. Pima College commit Andres Castro picked up the win for the Lions with six innings of work and eight strikeouts. Bubba Mustain took over in the seventh and he collected two more strikeouts.

Mustain went 2-4 at the plate with a triple and two RBI. Noah Secrest also went 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Bradon Taylor went 2-3 with three RBI. Dallin Snooks got the start for the Mustangs and Stephen Eagan got the ball in the fourth and Andrew Palfreyman threw the last two innings. Carter Ditlove had an RBI triple, Palfreyman went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Landon Erich had a double and Caleb Zawadzki went 2-3 with an RBI.

Eagle will travel to play Owyhee Storm (6-0) in Meridian on Wednesday and Pusch Ridge will host Sabino (0-10, 0-6) on the same night.
