Salpointe junior Leo Gutierrez recorded his seventh hat trick of his career in a 3-1 victory over Pusch Ridge Tuesday at the Brandon Bean Invitational taking place at the Kino North Complex in Tucson this week. Gutierrez scored five goals in a 6-1 win over Mica Mountain on Monday to open up the winter season.

Gutierrez scored 29 goals as a freshman and 37 as a sophomore, with both marks being in the top four in the state, and his eight goals leads the state at this point. Gutierrez scored eight goals in the playoffs last season to help the Lancers win a state championship and he scored five goals to help the program win a state title as a freshman.

Salpointe (2-0) will take on Rincon/University (1-1) on Thursday to finish up pool play before the brackets are announced for Thursday and Pusch Ridge (2-0) will play Mica Mountain (0-2).
