DIVISION II STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

Oct. 22-23: Omni Tucson National

 

Ranked No. 12 in the state, Salpointe freshman Mackenzie McRee has a one-stroke lead over Catalina Foothills junior No. 5 Maya Benita after day one of the Division II state championships held at the Omni Tucson National on Monday.

Playing on the Catalina Course, McRee shot a 1-under-par 72, Benita shot an even 73 and Salpointe senior, No. 4 Alexandra Quihuis, came in 1-over for the third spot heading into day two. Day Two will be played on the Sonoran Course on Tuesday.

No. 1 Cactus Shadows shot 28-over (320) to take a 13-stroke lead over No.3 Ironwood Ridge. No. 2 Horizon and No. 7 Salpointe are 19 strokes back at 339.

 

GIRLS RESULTS

 

On the boy’s side, Arcadia junior No. 3 Tucker Clark shot a 6-under 64 to take a one stroke lead over Williams Field senior No. 8 Kohl Kuebler. Thunderbird senior No. 6 Hayden Sayre came in with a 4-under 66 to claim third place heading into Day Two which will be played on the Catalina Course.

As a team, No. 1 Arcadia shot an even 280 to take the early lead over No. 2 Williams Field (281) and No. 4 Notre Dame Prep (282).
