There is no such thing as an “upset” when two top region opponents play each other this time of year and such was the case when No. 8 Catalina Foothills beat No. 2 Salpointe 52-41 Thursday night at home. The win gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead in the 4A Kino Region while the Lancers fell to 3-1.
No longer considered a “small school” Walden Grove made the jump from Division III to 4A this year and things appear to be going pretty well for the school from Sahuarita. The Red Wolves improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in power-ranking games thanks to a 51-45 win at Mountain View Marana Thursday night.

Haven Golf Course: Oct. 14-15
Salpointe went 5-0 to capture the championship of the Catalina Foothills Lady Falcon Invitational. The Lancers beat Rincon/University 3-1 in the final.
Sahuaro went undefeated to capture the championship of the TUSD Girls Volleyball Invitational held at Palo Verde High School of Friday and Saturday. Sahuaro withstood a difficult semifinal match against Rincon/University before defeating Sabino 2-0 (25-14, 25-15) in the final match.

Cooper Bradford calmly approached what he thought would be his last official putt in high school. The Rincon/University senior knew his team needed to score a 157 to take over the last at-large playoff spot but he had no idea everything depended on how he finished.
The 2015 Amphi Panther Invitational will feature defending Division III state champion Tucson Palo Verde and defending Division IV state champion Tucson Desert Christian.
