Recap Day 1-Barry Goldwater VBall Tourney

October 7, 2011 by Game Previews, AZPreps365

This weekend we are hanging out at the Barry Goldwater Volleyball Festival at Barry Goldwater High School live tweeting and broadcasting. The tournament features 32 teams and this afternoon we were able to catch eight of the teams in action.

This afternoons match-ups featured:

Mesa Mountain View vs. Barry Goldwater

Snowflake vs. Sunrise Mountain

Horizon vs. Pinnacle

Desert Vista vs. Centennial

The girls pushed hard today fighting to place for position before taking on tomorrow’s games. All of the matches finished in two games with the exception of the Snowflake vs. Sunrise Mountain game which was won in three games by Sunrise Mountain. The first game of the afternoon included Mesa Mountain View vs. Barry Goldwater. Mesa Mountain View came out on top defeating Barry Goldwater 25-23 and 25-15. The Snowflake vs. Sunrise Mountain game was off to a slow start with Snowflake winning game one 25-9. Sunrise Mountain really had to bring their “A” game if they wanted to win game two which they did beating Snowflake 25-17 and forcing a game three which they came out on top of again winning the game 17-15 and the match 2-1. Horizon/Pinnacle was a game to see. Both teams fought hard and sacrificed their bodies to save the ball and keep the volleys going. In the end Horizon was the star in this game defeating Pinnacle in two games which both ended with a score of 25-16. Our  final game of the afternoon featured Desert Vista vs. Centennial. Both teams went back and forth throughout the whole game each having some great leads and amazing comebacks. In the end it was Centennial who won over Desert Vista in two games with scores of 25-22 and 25-23.

We will be back here at Barry Goldwater High School again tomorrow afternoon for the final match-ups of this weekends festival. For tomorrows games and scores you can catch us live tweeting at @aia365 as well as live broadcasting from the school.
