Hopi Invitational opens cross-country season on September 3

The northern Arizona girl's and boy's high school cross-country regular season opens with the prestigious Hopi Invitational on September 3 at the school's home course in Keams Canyon.
Eighteen schools have entered in this year's invitational, including the Page Sand Devils and host Hopi. Page has won the boy's state championship the past five years.
Entered in this year's invitational are Alchesay, Apache Junction, Chinle, Coconino, Dishchii Bikoh, Ganado, Greyhills Academy and Holbrook.
Also, Many Farms, Pinon, Red Mesa, Rock Point, Shonto Prep, Show Low, Window Rock and Zuni, New Mexico.
A coaches meeting is set for the school's wrestling room at 2:30 p.m.
A junior high school girl's and boy's meet is scheduled prior to the girl's and boy's high school open meet.
The girl's open 5000-meter race begins at 4:30 p.m. The boy's open 5000-meter race follows at 5:15 p.m.
Individual medals will be presented to the top 25 finishers in the girl's and boy's open races. Team awards include Champion and Runner-Up plaques.
