Hacker repeats as dive champ, trio turn in two D-I top times

Corona del Sol's Chloe Hacker repeated Friday as the Division I state diving champ at the Division I and Division II state swim and dive meet at Skyline Aquatic Center.

Hacker, a sophomore, edged Cienega's Megan Johnson for the D-I title. Hacker's score was 378.70 and Johnson finished at 375.65. Behind Hacker and Johnson were Westwood's Kyra Tatlow (371.05), Xavier's Alecia Winston (361.95) and Skyline's Kacee Olsen (361.35).

Brophy Prep's Lukas Williams, Gilbert's Alex Schultz and Mountain Pointe's Clara Jenck each swam the fastest prelim times in two events in the swim porton of Friday's meet.

Jenck posted the fastest times in the 200 freestyle and 100 back. Williams did the same in the 200 free and 500 free while Schultz delivered in the 100 fly and 100 back.

Other top-time finals qualifiers in the boys events were Desert Mountain's Brandon Hughes (200 IM); Mesa Mountain View's Payton Sorenson (50 free); Mesquite's Seth Meddy (100 free) and Brophy's Mike Nelson (100 breast).

Other top-time finals qualifiers in the girls events were Xavier's Madeline Wells (200 IM); Canyon del Oro's Maggie McCord (50 free); Red Mountain's Samantha Guttmacher (100 fly); Pinnacle's Victoria Toris (100 free); Chaparral's Lexy Aichison (500 free) and Ironwood Ridge's Sara Borendame (100 breast).

The Division I and Division II swmiming finals are Saturday beginning at noon at Skyline. Boys division I diving is at 9:45 a.m. and boys Division II diving follows at 1:45 p.m..
