160 athletes qualified for the state wrestling tournament on the girl’s side on Saturday at eight different venues. Four of the Inaugural 10 Champions from last year will return to defend their titles.

 

RETURNING STATE CHAMPIONS

 

Lexi Borunda (Shadow Ridge) won the 101-pound division last year and she took second at the Section VII match at the 110 level.

 

Sierrah Thrun (Corona del Sol) won the 110 division last year and she returns as the 110 champion from Section I.

 

Carolina Moreno (Kofa) took the 130 division last year and she returns as the 125 Section VIII champion.

 

Mia Didur (Centennial) won the 185 division last year and she returns as the Section VI champion in the same division.

 

STATE QUALIFYING

 

The top two finishers from each weight class from the sections will advance to the state tournament once the victories are certified to create a bracket comprised of 16 wrestlers for each of the 10 weight classes.
