2A North Regional Tournament Girls' Hoops: Elks. Bruins, Falcons, Lobos advance

2A NORTH REGIONAL TOURNAMENT TOURNAMENT

GIRLS HOOPS

Eight schools began its quest for top honors in the 2A North Girls' Regional Tournament at four various sites on Wednesday night.

No. 1 St. Johns stopped No. 8 Greyhills, 54-30, eliminating the Lady Knights in the first round of the tournament.

No. 4 Hopi Lady Bruins edged No. 5 Round Valley Elks, 39-38, in an opening round game. Hopi advances into the semifinals of the tournament, facing St. Johns on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Round Valley Dome in a semifinal contest.

No. 3 Alchesay Lady Falcons eliminated No. 6 Pinon Lady Eagles, 63-24, in a first round contest. Alchesay advances into the semifinals.

No. 7 Many Farms Lobos posted a 62-56 victory over the Valley Sanders Lady Pirates. Many Farms moves into the semifinals, facing Alchesay on Friday at 3 p.m. in the Round Valley Dome.

The two winners of the semifinal games advance into the regional tournament championship on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Round Valley Dome.

The losers of the semifinal contests drop into the consolation third/fourth place game on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Round Valley Dome.

BOYS HOOPS

Two regional tournament boys' games are on tap in the semifinals on Friday in the Round Valley Dome.

The regional tournament began with eight schools this past Tuesday.

In a semifinal boys' game, St. Johns meets Valley Sanders at 4:30 p.m.

Alchesay Falcons faces Hopi in a Final Four game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The two winners advance to the regional tournment championship contest on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The semfinal game losers play for third/fourth place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
