Are you ready for some Chess?!

Are you ready for some……….Chess?!

Yes, you heard me. Are you ready for some Chess?  In an ongoing effort to bring you all the competitions we can AIA365 will proudly bring the AIA Chess championships to the site tomorrow with a full day of coverage, beginning at 9a.

As AIA365.com has continued to grow we’ve recognized that not all competitions take place on a field, court or swimming pool.  Some of the most heated battles can take place in a quiet library where minds are racing and moves are thought out like a strategic battle plan.

Never played Chess but wanted to find out how?  Think chess moves to slow?  Well I can tell you that to find out you’ll need to tune in tomorrow to find out.  What I can tell you is that any one of these individuals competing in the championships would be thrilled to teach you how to play and as far as moving to slow, let’s just say you don’t want to take too long at the snack bar because a match can be over in the blink of an eye.

 * Here’s a few little notes about chess which like me you may not have known:

  • Did you know the number of possible ways of playing the first four moves for both sides in a game of chess is 318,979,564,000?
  • The longest chess game ever was I.Nikolic - Arsovic, Belgrade 1989, which ended in 269 moves. The game was a draw.

So what I would tell you is don’t dismiss Chess before you give it a try, either playing it or watching it.  You might be surprised at how you come away feeling about it.  All I know is there’s a group of young men and women who are having butterfly’s in their stomach’s the same way a starting QB or Linebacker might before their big game.  Competition is competition and it brings out the best in everyone especially when it’s done at the highest level and that’s exactly what you’ll see tomorrow on AIA365.com
