Winslow head coach Art Griffith said Vargas threw a strong game on the mound.
"Both pitchers threw well effectuvely," said Griffith. "Sophomore Alex Vargas scattered five hits, striking out 10, with no walks."
Vargas went the distance on the mound, throwing seven innings. Vargas allowed five hits, three runs, two unearned runs, striking out 10 Chinle batters and did not issue any base-on-balls.
