Ironwood Ridge 159, Marana 186

 

Ironwood Ridge standout Zander Los shot a 1-over-par 36 on Tuesday to help pace the Nighthawks past Marana 159 to 186 at the El Conquistador CC (Conquistador Course). Los shot even until a bogey on the ninth hole. 

The victory also represented the second recorded match for the Nighthawks. With individuals and teams needing at least six rounds to qualify for state, Ironwood Ridge is sure to be playing a lot of golf before the Oct. 28 deadline for Division II. Then, the team has to be ranked in the top 12 in the division to qualify as a team. The team is currently sitting with a No. 13 ranking.

The Tigers are ranked No. 34 in D-I and the team still needs at least three more rounds before the Oct. 24 deadline for D-I.

If the Nighthawks do not qualify then Los is projected to make the playoffs as an individual but he also needs at least four more rounds before the deadline. His teammate Andrew Bowers is on the edge, ranked No. 19.  The top 18 not attached to a qualifying team will make the state playoffs.
