The GCHS Knights are 3-2 on the season with high hopes of going to the playoffs this year for the first time in 3A history.

The Knights won a very tough game against Show-Low week one of the season. This set them on the hunt for playoff contention, motivating the team and coaches that they had what it takes. This would be the first time, while in 3A, they would be in the playoffs. The Knights need the next two wins to make it to the top two of their league. The top two of their league will go to the playoffs.

With the shortened season because of COVID-19, the Knights needed to be on point every game. They lost one of their games when a couple of key teammates could not play. Their next game will be against Coolidge on Friday, November 13th. The Knights lost a tough game to Florence whom Coolidge had beat earlier in the season. No doubt, the game on Friday will be one to watch as a lot will be riding on this game.

Talking to starting running back and linebacker Brody Curtner, I asked him how he thought the team would look against the other teams in the bracket? Brody’s response, “Where we will be playing, we will have to go 100% all the time, no mistakes whatsoever.” If Gilbert Christian makes it to the playoffs, they will be playing the top teams in their division.

3A has been a tough battle for the Knights every year, but the Knights have a battle plan and are ready for what's coming. The Knights won their game against Eastmark 45-40 this past Friday, November 6th. This game is a key factor in motivation for their upcoming game against Coolidge, which is sure to be a big one. Both teams are battling for their spot in the playoffs.
