David Carson, a junior at Gilbert Christian High School running XC, has qualified for state and his times prove nothing but excellence. His first race time was 21:52.6 and his last race time at sectionals was 18:18.1. His first race and last race times were different and you can see him improving with each race. “David has worked all offseason with me. He is one of the hardest workers I've ever seen.” says Coach Gianiorio. David says “All I have my mind on is state. I am happy to represent GCHS at this year’s state meet”. David shows nothing but perseverance while preparing for state.

At state David proved to everyone that he worked for that moment. He got 18:03, Coach Gianiorio was screaming at him during the whole race to keep pushing, and David did that exactly. David is increasing his time every race and isn’t stopping here. We cannot wait to see what he will do next year in Cross Country!

David Carson runs his heart out as he passes a runner from Chino Valley at the Phoenix Classic back in October, 2020.
