Valley Christian senior Ben Meiter is on track to achieve next level.

Meiter can play on both sides as a winger creating plays or as a forward where he usually finds the net. His ability has led the Trojans to a 7-1-1 record.

“He is very versatile, many times I start him as striker and I’m able to move him to the wings, where he can attack the outside,” coach Ben Jones said. “He is my go-to guy to attack weak spots.”

A striker who has the ability to move to the sides can become a nightmare for opponents. So far Meiter, has punished rivals 11 times.

“I feel really confident. With all the work that I’ve put in the summer, I’m just happy with the payout,” Meiter said.

He’s not a selfish player and he is a leader.

“He is a leader, not just on the field but outside as well. People look up to him,”Jones said. “Specially now that he’s a senior, he has taken the underclass under his wing and show them the ropes.”

Jones coached Meiter two years ago when he was in charge of Valley Christian JV soccer team and has seen his evolution. Their relationship grew at varsity level.

“I look up to him a lot, he is always there for me and is someone i can have a real relationship with,” Meiter said.

Not only coach been an influence on Meiter´s career. The forward said his mother is the most supportive. She took seventh grader Meiter to his first soccer practice.

“She took me to all my club events and wanted my to pursue it.”

As Meiter keeps burning the net, new roads will open for his soccer career, one which has no ceiling.

“The ball is on his court, he definitely has the ability to pursue higher stages,” Jones said.
