Corona's Robinson, SSC's Gesell co-MVP's of Visitmesa.com

Corona del Sol senior guard Calaen Robinson and South Sioux City, Neb. senior guard Mike Gesell were named co-most valuable players of the 2011 Visitmesa.com Basketball Challenge on Saturday.

Robinson helped Corona del Sol to a 4-0 mark and finished the tournament with 24 points against South Sioux City and 30 against American Fork, Utah in the Aztecs final two games. Corona del Sol was the lone Arizona team among 11 entered to go undefeated. Gesell averaged 35.7 points a game his first three tournament games and wowed crowds nightly with his shooting, court-presence and overall athletic ability. Robinson is headed to ASU and Gesell to Iowa next fall.
