Lancer Track and Field Invitational

Saturday, April 17: Salpointe Catholic

 

27 teams took part in the Lancer Track and Field Invitational Saturday. The Salpointe boys scraped by Ironwood Ridge 73 to 66 and The Lancer girls held off Sabino 102 to 89. The state championships for the various divisions are set to for May 12 to May 15 at either Phoenix Desert Vista High School or Gilbert Perry High School.

The deadline for state qualifying meets is Wednesday, May 5 and all results need to be posted by 2 p.m. on May 6. The deadline for entering athletes into the state meet is 5 p.m. on May 7.

 

The remaining state qualifying meets for Southern Arizona:

April 23-24: Ironwood Ridge

April 24: Douglas

April 28: Marana

May 1: Mountain View Marana

May 5: Marana

 

SALPOINTE NOTABLES

Palo Verde senior Tristen Spalding won the 100 and 200 meter races.

Tucson High senior Jenica Bosco won the 100 and 200 meter races.

Salpointe sophomore Kylie Wild won the 800 and 1600 meter races.

Palo Verde senior Abraham Valenzuela won the 1600 and 3200 meter races.

Sabino senior Jade Kwinn won the Shot Put and the Javelin throw.

Mountain View junior Sam Halaufia won the Shot Put and the Discus throw.

 

2021 NUMBER OF ENTRIES AT STATE

A maximum of 24 will qualify for running events.

A maximum of 16 relay teams will qualify for state.

A maximum of 24 will qualify for Long and Triple Jump.

A maximum of 24 will qualify for Discus and Shot Put.

A maximum of 22 will qualify for Javelin, High Jump and Pole Vault.

If there is a tie for the last qualifying individual, then those tied will be admitted into the state meet.
