The Canyon View Lady Jaguars basketball team beat the Arcadia Titans by a score of 45-37 at Canyon View Arena.

Senior Taylor Jacobs opened the game by making both free throw shots, which gave the Jaguars a  2-0 lead.  Sophomore Madison Reibel made the first three-pointer of the game, sending the score 7-5. Senior Angelina Thiel finished the first quarter with a two-point shot to put the Jaguars in front 19-9.

The Lady Jags finished up the first half with a 30-12 lead.

"In the beginning we were a little sloppy, but in the end we woke up and started getting it together," Thiel said.

Opening up the third quarter, Reibel made a three-point shot to make the score 33-12. Taylor Jacobs made a two point basket towards the end of the quarter as Canyon View held on for a 37-24 lead.

"The team played really well tonight, going against a good team shows the ups and downs and that's exactly what happened. But they persevered and kept looking forward, '' coach Desirae Carranza said.

Thiel made the first four points of the fourth quarter to bring the score to 41-26. Taylor Jacobs finished the game with the final basket, and the Jaguars held on for a  45-37 win.

"Winning this game is something we needed, it put us in a good position. 10-0 is something that was unexpected by others, so I am very proud of the girls and their effort tonight, '' coach Carranza said.

Canyon View will be back in action over the holiday break at the Bullhead City Holiday Shoot Out.
