On Tuesday, February 1st, Chandler Prep celebrated their winter sport senior athletes. Unfortunately for the girls varsity basketball team, however, they were not able to celebrate a win on the court.

The Chandler Prep Titans kept it competitive in the first half, but the Horizon Honors Eagles took control of the game, outscoring the Titans 28-7 in the second half and winning 44-23. Despite the loss, Head Coach LeFebre was very complimentary of his team’s efforts on and off the court:

“Our strength is our unity. It was the goal at the beginning of the year and we’ve come so far. They love each other and that’s half the battle. They played their hearts out.”

Senior Tatum McDonald, who has been playing on Varsity since her freshman year, truly showed her leadership, topping the stat sheets in defensive and offensive rebounds, steals, and points. McDonald also forced seven jump balls.

After an energetic first half with wild fans and good offensive rhythm, the Titans were only down 16-14, but the energy did not continue and the Eagles found the basket quickly and often in the second half.

Chandler Prep still sits #3 in the 2A Valley region and the team has two more games before the 2A Valley tournament starting on February 7th. Titan Up.
