Williams Field and Dobson both used 10-run victories Wednesday to advance to the championship of the 7th annual Highland Triple Play Classic Baseball Tournament at Highland High.

Williams Field (11-4) punched its ticket to the title game with a 14-4 win over Pool A champ Cesar Chavez. A five-run, first inning got Williams Field well on its way. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homer by Braden Amenta, an opposite field shot to right. It followed back-to-back two-out walks.

Amenta was one of three Williams Field players to collect two hits -- Kyle Campbell and winning pitcher Zach Parkinson were the others. Amenta and Jedd Fagg had three RBI apiece for the Black Hawks. Williams Field had 12 hits and worked in six walks and five Cesar Chavez errors to post its double-digit run total. Xavier Trujillo and Luis Perez combined for five of Chavez's eight hits.

In the other semifinal, Dobson pounded Mesa High, 11-1, behind a big day from Chris Pennell. Pennell pitched  six innings and allowed just three hits and struck out six. At the plate he was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and five RBI. Nick Krogstad and Zach Julian had two hits each for Dobson.

Dobson (8-6 overall) is the lone unbeaten team in the tournament (4-0). The Mustangs defeated Williams Field, 3-2, in pool play on Monday. The championship game is Thursday night at 7 at Highland High.
