Hamilton and Xavier Prep tied after Round One

Hamilton and Xavier Prep are tied at a 27-over-par 319 after the first round of the Division I Girls State Championship taking place on the Par 73 Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National on Monday and Tuesday. Pinnacle is one shot back at 320 for third place, Boulder Creek is currently in fourth place with a 322 and Liberty is in fifth with a 326.

Boulder Creek was in first place at the turn and Xavier Prep was in fifth, some 11 strokes back. Liberty beat Xavier 593 to 596 last year for the D-I state title.

Individually, Hamilton sophomore Angela Chen leads the pack with a 2-under 71. 2021 state champion Jennifer Seo of Hamilton is in second place with an even round of 73.

The second and final round tees off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Chen tees off at 10:30 a.m. on the first hole.

The Boys D-I State Championship starts on Wednesday on the Par 70 Sonoran Course at the Omni Tucson National. Hamilton will be playing for the fourth straight title for the program since 2019.
