PRESCOTT VALLEY — Having lost three of its first four games, Bradshaw Mountain football may have seemed like they were out of the state playoff race early.

Six wins in a row later, however, including a 35-10 win over Lee Williams on Friday night that earned the Bears (7-3, 5-0 4A Grand Canyon) back-to-back region championships, and suddenly Bob Young’s crew looks like a seasoned club looking to make a playoff run.

First up is No. 9 Northwest Christian (8-2, 4-0 4A West Valley), which hasn’t lost a game in nearly two months.

The No. 8-seeded Bears will host the Crusaders at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18.

If Bradshaw Mountain can get past Northwest Christian, No. 1-seeded ALA-Gilbert North likely awaits. The Eagles beat rival Prescott 55-35 in Week 4, but the Badgers hung with them most of the evening.

PRESCOTT 55, MINGUS 7

COTTONWOOD — Cian Mckelvey rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns, Cody Leopold had two scores and Prescott wrapped up the regular season with a 55-7 win over Mingus on Friday night.

The win for the Badgers (8-2, 4-1 4A Grand Canyon) puts them in the state playoffs with a No. 10 seed, facing No. 7 Apache Junction to open the first round Friday, Nov. 18.

The Prospectors (7-3, 2-2 4A East Sky) earned a key win over Snowflake (31-10) on Oct. 20, but lost to Coconino (28-21), ALA-Gilbert North (35-21) and Poston Butte (28-14) this season.

Kickoff between Prescott and Apache Junction is set for 7 p.m.

COCONINO 82, FLAGSTAFF 0

FLAGSTAFF — Cooper French ran 22 times for 327 yards and five touchdowns to lead Coconino past inner-city rival Flagstaff 82-0 on Friday night.

The blowout received mixed reviews on social media for the nature of how the game was handled. As for the team, it was reported that Panther (4-6, 2-3 4A Grand Canyon) coaches were expecting a score like Friday’s outcome between the two clubs.

“That was the expectation going in,” Coconino running back Bridger French told Arizona Daily Sun reporter Eric Newman after the game. “Our coaches said we wanted a basketball-like score and we gave it to them.”

French finished with nine carries for 101 yards and four touchdowns.

Neither team made the playoffs this season.

PIMA 61, CAMP VERDE 7

PIMA — Seth Russell threw for three touchdowns, Wyatt Wiltbank ran for two more and No. 1-seeded Pima didn’t have much problem with Camp Verde in a 61-7 victory during the second round of the 2A state playoffs Friday night.

Camp Verde (10-2, 4-1 2A Agua Fria) finally made its way onto the scoreboard with 2 minutes to play after quarterback Tyson Buckley completed a 4-yard pass to Sam Williams for a touchdown.

It was the 45th touchdown pass of the season for Buckley, who is a junior.

Next up, Pima takes on No. 4-seeded Wilcox at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.
