Perry continued its torrid start to the 2022-2023 boys hoops season with its 10th straight win - all of them via double digits.

The defending 6A champions started fast and never let up Tuesday night in knocking off previously undefeated Boulder Creek, 89-55, at Perry's Dan Serrano Gymnasium.

Perry wasted little time building a large lead, bolting to a 25-12 lead after the first period. The Pumas lead was 16-12 with two minutes left in the quarter, but a 9-0 run was on its way to close the first eight minutes. The run consisted of two Cody Williams free throws, a three-point basket by Barron Silsby and a basket and two free throws from Koa Peat. The Pumas won every quarter and nearly had all five starters score in double figures for the game.

Leading the offensive charge was senior 6-foot-8 guard Cody Williams with 28 points. Williams scored 14 points the first three periods and finished his night with just under three minutes left with nine consecutive points in just more than a minute. A driving layup, followed by a steal and dunk, a three and one more dunk put an exclamation point on his evening's work.

Junior guard Barron Silsby was next in Perry's scoring parade with 19 points, including four threes. Sophomore wing Koa Peat contributed 17 points, with all his doing his scoring in the paint. Sophomore D'Andre Harrison (11 points) collected all his points in the first and third quarters. Senior guard Ben Egbo (nine points) scored all his points in the first half -- three three-point baskets.

Boulder Creek (4-1) also shared the ball with its starters showcasing balance. Sophomore Andrew Bhesania paced the Jaguars with 12 points. Seniors Carson Gates and Espn Polanski netted 11 points apiece followed by Dylan Spilde (8 points) and Rowan McKenzie (7 points).

Perry's next game is Friday when the Pumas host Gilbert High. Boulder Creek heads to Farmington, N.M. to compete in the Marv Sanders Memorial Invite Thursday through Saturday. Window Rock and six others schools from New Mexico, Utah and Colorado will compete in the invitational.
