This year, the Hawks have had a variety of talent at their disposal, but it has all been led by their seniors, Chris Corral, Vince Edwards, Remington Stagg, Renz Iurino and Luke Weathers. With this leadership, they have had a great season, ending with 11 wins and seven losses, and finishing with a 10-2 stretch.

The Hawks’ game against Benson was not only a good closeout to the season but a perfect sendoff for their seniors. Hawks fans packed the gym, overflowing the home section. There was face painting, raffles, pizza for sale, and a shooting contest at halftime. The students came together for their seniors and represented the community well.

With all this energy in the gym, the Hawks and the Bobcats both put on a show. Hawks’ senior Vince Edwards dropped 21 points on 82% from the field, and Bobcats’ senior dropped 19 points with four three-point makes.

In the end, the Hawks came out on top, 59-58, but not without a Bobcat rally to come back from being down nine with three minutes left, to going up one with 20 seconds left. The Hawks then brought the ball down the court and called a timeout with six seconds on the clock. They imbounded to Vince Edwards, who drew an over-the-back foul in the paint. He stepped up to hit two free throws to win the game.

After the buzzer, seniors Vince Edwards and Chris Corral ran to each other, sharing an emotional embrace as fans flooded the court around them. It was a picture-perfect ending to an amazing game.
