Under Head Coach, Devon Dickinson, the Gilbert Christian Knights Boys’ Soccer Team is ranked #3 in the division 3A East Region. This qualified them for the first round of soccer playoffs on February 7th.

As a result, the boys came out with a 3-1 win against Yuma Catholic. Coach Dickinson says, “The entire team played brilliantly with Junior Sam Cavinder syncing up with fellow Junior Kaleb Powell to get the Knights going in the first half and then Freshman Noah Cooper “work-horsing” two of his own in the second.” 

Throughout the stress of the game, the Knights’ defense dominated. “The Knights midfield and defense continues to demonstrate they are the best-in-league with yet another dominant performance,” added Coach Dickinson. 

Under Head Coach Hector Orellana, The Gilbert Christian Knights Girls’ Soccer Team is also ranked #3 in the division 3A East Region and they also qualified for the first round of the soccer playoffs on February 8th. 

The Lady Knights defense was unphased by the Minotaurs impressive seven game win streak and ended the night with a game score of 4-0. The defensive line along with Selah Hommel’s great saves as goalie kept the Minotaurs from scoring. Caprice Chiuchiolo broke away from the Minotaurs defense within the first five minutes to score the first goal of the game! Caprice added one more point to her stat sheet in the second half and Daniella Orellana added two additional points.

Both Knights’ teams will play in the second round of playoffs this Saturday, February 11th, at Gilbert Christian High School. The boys will play against the Pusch Ridge Lions at 2:00PM. The girls will play against the Sabino Sabercats at 12:00PM. Both opposing teams are ranked #6 in the 3A South Region. Come out and support the team. Go Knights!"
