Basha didn't allow a seven-point deficit late in the third quarter to visiting Notre Dame Prep dampen its resolve to advance to the Open Division final four.

The 11th-seeded Bears used offense from senior Tyler Lalley and freshman Elijah Summers-Livingston in the final two minutes on Saturday night to overcome the 14th-seeded Saints, 68-60, at Basha High.

The win advances Basha to the Open Division semifinals on Friday at a site to be determined. Basha's opponent is #10 Sunnyslope, a 63-62 overtime winner over #18 St. Mary's in another Open Division quarterfinal.

Basha (25-4) began the fourth quarter trailing 46-41 after Notre Dame Prep's Bryce Quinet sank two free throws in the opening 10 seconds of the quarter. Over the next 5 1/2 minutes Basha pushed ahead briefly (58-54) only to see Notre Dame Prep tie for a final time on baskets by Quinet and Mitchell Perkins with 2:07 to go.

Lalley, who finished with seven points, broke the 58-all tie with a three with 1:44 left. Notre Dame Prep (23-6) turned the ball over on the ensuing possession. At Basha's end Lalley was fouled after nabbing an offensive rebound and made a free throw increasing the Bears lead 62-58.

NDP wasn't done. Two free throws by Quinet and Basha's lead was 62-60 with 59 seconds left. Summers-Livingston added a putback with 26 seconds left and two free throws by Basha senior Torin Bosch bumped the lead to 66-60. The scoring ended with a Summers-Livingston slam with five seconds to play.

Freshman point guard Mason McGee led Basha and all scorers with 24 points. McGee scored nine of his 24 points in the first half of the fourth quarter leading the surge to the 58-all tie. Bosch finished with 16 points and reserve Sam Zanoni added 13 points. Zanoni scored eight of his points in the second quarter as the Bears ouscored the Saints 19-13 in the quarter to lead at halftime, 31-27.
