A Friday night and Saturday midday sports radio mainstay is leaving the Valley.

Mike Grose, the host of the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s Friday Night Wrap-Up Show, this week announced that he is returning to college as an administrator. He’ll do so as an assistant director of athletics for communications at New Mexico Highlands University, where Meg, Grose’s daughter, is the volleyball coach.

Prior to becoming a popular radio host, Grose worked at Regis University as a sports information director.

“When the opportunity to work in college athletics again presented itself, I jumped at the opportunity,” he said. “Working with Meg is an added bonus for sure.”

The good-natured Grose dedicated 21 years to the Valley’s sports airwaves, primarily with Fox Sports 910 AM Phoenix.

He was co-hosting the Take the Points show on Fox Sports 910 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with another broadcast veteran, Mike Bauer, and a former Wrap-Up Show reporter, Jackson Groff.

Mike Grose worked with Fox Sports 910 AM for 21 years.

One of Grose’s radio teammates was former Arizona Cardinal defensive end Bertrand Berry, who hosted a popular podcast along with Grose as well.

“Being able to work in radio in a market like Phoenix has been a blast,” Grose said. “I’ve met people that will be friends for life doing these shows. I’m grateful to Mike Muraco for giving me the opportunity twenty some years ago.”

Seven years ago, Grose began handling another assignment like a pro after becoming the voice of the AIA’s Friday Night Wrap-Up Football Show on 1580 AM The Fanatic.

The show has been around since the 1990s on different stations.

“Doing the Friday Night Wrap-Up Show has been an absolute blast,” he said. “Being a small part of the passion that surrounds high school has been amazing. The team at the AIA made it an awesome show every week.”

Grose will pass the AIA Wrap-Up Show baton to an up-and-coming talent in the Valley, Cody Cameron.

Cameron serves as an analyst during the AIA’s football postseason broadcasts on the NFHS Network. As ArizonaVarsity.com’s football analyst, he quickly established himself as a high school football insider after graduating from Northern Arizona University in 2017.

Recently, he also earned hosting duties for Sports360AZ.com’s Recruiting Roundup show.

"I look forward to being a part of the best Arizona high school football radio wrap-up show in the state,” Cameron said. “I can't wait for the opportunity to interview many colleagues, coaches and friends on the airwaves on Friday night. This was a no-brainer decision, and I am excited to create a fun, passionate environment on a show that showcases the state's many talented student-athletes and dedicated high school coaches."

Cody Cameron will step in as the new voice of the Friday Night Wrap-Up Show on 1580 The Fanatic once the 2024 football season starts.
