Xavier Prep, Casteel and Ironwood Ridge compete at the National High School Golf Championships

Xavier Prep took sixth place at the PGA High School Golf National Invitational. Former standouts Grace Rubelsky and Reimi Bleyl, along with current standouts Alexis Lamadrid, Isabella Piazza and Carrie Doss, took part. Lamadrid and Piazza tied for 16th with a 6-under 210.

The three-day, 54-hole event was held at Fields Ranch West in Frisco, Texas, WestRidge Golf Course in McKinney and Gentle Creek Country Club in Prosper. Xavier came in with a 1-over-par 865. California won the event with a 55-under 809.

Casteel took tenth place with Jordin Cowing, Julia Herzberg, Kylie Kuppersmith and Sienna Jennings. Cowing took 14th place with a 7-under 209.

The 2023 AIA state champion, Angela Chen of Hamilton, took 13th place as an individual with an 8-under 208. Leigh Chien of California won the individual title with a 17-under 199.

The boys played from July 1-3 and Ironwood Ridge took 13th place with a 33-over 897. Georgia won with a 12-under 852.

Former Nighthawks Brasen Briones, Jacob Medina and Jayden Schmitz joined seniors Sean Kelly and Wyatt Charnoki. Casteel standout Austin Bullard also competed as an individual.
