Xavier wins national record 39th state golf title

The Xavier golf program just keeps on rolling. The Gators captured their 39th state golf title Tuesday afternoon, by far the most in the country.
Xavier was led by sophomore Alexis Lamadrid, who finished seven under with rounds of 68-69. Lamadrid out dueled Casteel's Jordin Cowing by one stroke in a great individual battle, as Cowing carded rounds of 68 and 70.
Casteel also finished runner-up on the team standings with a team total of 602, eight shots behind the Gators.
Pinnacle, Perry, and Liberty rounded out the top five.
individually, Perry freshman Taylor Underhill finished third at four under, followed by Millenium freshman Aubrey Pizzillo (-2) and Pinnacle's Kaitlyn Moreland (E).
Xavier's first state title came in 1980.
