Don’t cozy up yet with your current seed, Division VI football teams.

The 8-man football playoffs start next week, but a lot can change this week. A couple of key games on Friday will determine which 12 D-VI teams will continue to play.

The big games this week will feature No. 4 seed Pima hosting No. 11 St. David and No. 8 Bagdad at No. 6 Valley Lutheran. After Friday’s games, the three highest seeded teams in each of D-VI’s three sections will earn automatic state bids, and the top-4 overall seeded teams earn first round byes.

No. 12 seed Rock Point might need to upset No. 3 Mogollon to stay in the postseason hunt, because a win by No. 13 Salome over Gila Bend might allow Salome to receive the final playoff spot.
