Weed, Moody, Hill, Turner and DeLaRosa Selected as Max Preps/NFCA National H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For their outstanding efforts during games occurring over April 22-28, Jordan Weed of Toms River East (Toms River, N.J.) High School, Kaitlynn Moody of Jefferson (Lafayette, Ind.) High School, Paige Hill of Lowndes Academy (Lowndesboro, Ala.), Rowan Turner of East (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) High School and Karalyn DeLaRosa of Tulare Western (Tulare, Calif.) High School have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.

EAST REGION: A senior pitcher/infielder for the Toms River East H.S. Raiders, Weed hit .667 (4-for-6) at the plate with a double, HR and five RBIs, while posting a 4-0 record from the circle with a perfect 0.00 ERA, three complete games and 45 strikeouts over just 24 innings of work. She struck out 16 batters, allowing a single unearned run and just one hit during an 11-1 victory over Toms River North (N.J.), and K'ed 11 hitters in triumphs over both Toms River South (N.J.) and Central Regional (N.J.). For the year Weed boasts a 12-3 pitching mark with a 0.65 ERA and 193 K's over 97.1 frames, while also hitting .385 with 13 RBIs.

NORTH REGION: A sophomore pitcher/first baseman for the Jefferson H.S. Bronchos, Moody was 4-0 from the circle with a 0.25 ERA, three complete-game shutouts and 38 K's over 28 frames of work while also batting .467 (7-for-15) with six runs scored, a double, a HR and five RBIs. Among her finest performances for the week was a one-hit, 13-0 blanking of West Lafayette (Ind.) during which she was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs while also striking out eight. Moody also punched out 11 during triumphs over Brownsburg (Ind.) and Kokomo (Ind.). For the year she possesses a 9-6 record with a 0.91 ERA and 146 strikeouts over 100 innings while hitting .418 with 11 total RBIs.

SOUTH REGION: A junior pitcher/first baseman for the Lowndes Academy Rebels, Hill was a perfect 3-0 from the circle for the week, while batting .643 (9-for-14) with five runs scored, four doubles and five RBIs. In a 2-1 victory over Macon-East Montgomery Academy (Ala.), she garnered the pitching triumph and also went an impressive 6-for-7 at the plate with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. For the year she is hitting at a .484 clip with 12 two-baggers, seven HR's and 46 RBIs while also boasting a 16-5 pitching mark with a 1.38 ERA and 125 K's over 117 innings.

SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A junior pitcher/first baseman for the East H.S. Lancers, Turner hit at a .750 clip (12-for-16) with six doubles and 10 RBIs, while also posting a 4-0 pitching record with a 0.00 ERA and 16 K's over 20 frames. Included in her impressive efforts at the dish were perfect 4-for-4, four-RBI performances against both North (Kan.) and West (Kan.). On the season she is hitting .558 with 10 two-baggers and 21 RBIs while in possession of an 8-1 record with a 1.07 ERA and 51 K's over 58.2 innings.

WEST REGION: A senior pitcher/first baseman for the Tulare Western H.S. Mustangs, DeLaRosa was 3-0 from the circle with a 0.39 ERA, three complete games and 18 K's over 18 innings of work. At the dish she also hit .571 (4-for-7) with five runs scored, two doubles and three RBIs. On the year she holds a 12-6 pitching mark with a 1.40 ERA and 99 strikeouts over 109.2 innings of work and is batting .419 with 12 doubles and 16 RBIs.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
