AIA releases statement regarding death of its board leader

The Arizona Interscholastic Association released a brief statement regarding the death of its executive board president, Art Wagner.

Wagner died early Wednesday morning. The Higley Unified District athletic director was 42.

Statement:

AIA STAFF AND EXECUTIVE BOARD MOURNING THE UNEXPECTED PASSING OF AIA EXECUTIVE BOARD PRESIDENT, ART WAGNER

PHOENIX, AZ (May 15, 2013) – The AIA Staff and Executive Board wish to offer their condolences to the Higley Unified School District, family members and friends of Executive Board President, Art Wagner. All of us are grieving this tremendous loss to our community and want to express our appreciation for Art’s long term dedication to education and interscholastic activities.

Prior to his death, Mr. Wagner, the Executive Director of Support Services at Higley Unified School District, was serving as the current AIA Executive Board President. He had also served on the 4A Conference Committee as the Executive Board Representative and on the Arizona Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Board of Directors. Mr. Wagner had been an educator for 20 years. We are grateful for his service and the time we had the privilege of working with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
