Desert Ridge is not the only school minus a baseball coach with a state title to his credit.

Marcos de Niza is currently looking for someone to replace Felipe Becerra, who resigned late last week after seven seasons.

Becerra took over the program in 2007 and posted a 109-108 record in his tenure there. The Padres won the the 5A Division II title in his first year with a 17-17 record. Marcos also finished in the 5A-II final four in 2010 and reached postseason in five of Becerra's seven seasons. The Padres missed the playoff the last two seasons when they returned to the big-school classification. Marcos finished 9-18 in 2013.

Marcos de Niza athletic director Mike Griffith said the decision to step down was Becerra's. "There were no hard feelings on either side," Griffith said.

Griffith said the school is accepting applications and will begin interviewing for the position next week.
