Richard Obert reported that Mark Andrews, a senior wide receiver, chose the Sooners over the likes of Notre Dame, Alabama and Ohio State. The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder made 81 catches as a junior for 1,494 yards and 21 touchdowns to earn Arizona large-school Player of the Year honors from the Republic.

He also is ranked as the No. 10 wide receiver and No. 75 overall player in the nation by 247Sports.

Andrews indicated that two things, in particular, influenced him. No. 1, he is very impressed by Coach Bob Stoops, who promised he would play wide receiver and not tight end, and having his brother, medical student Jack Andrews, already on campus.

He told Obert, "I love a lot of things about Oklahoma. Bob Stoops is very important to me. He's very genuine, a real coach who loves his players. I see him being there for a while. That's a huge plus. I love the wide receivers coach, Jay Norvell, is great. Everything there is amazing."
