The 8th Annual Salpointe Lancer Baseball Classic is taking place this week at the Reid Park Complex in midtown Tucson. Besides teams from all over Arizona, squads from Oklahoma, Texas and California are also taking part.

Several college and professional scouts are sure to be in attendance due to the number of top-level talent scheduled to play.

A brief list of some of that talent includes, Nick Ames and Erick Migueles of Oro Valley Canyon del Oro, Gage O'Brien of Tucson Catalina Foothills, Najee Gaskins of Vail Cienega, Travis Howard of Marana, Sati Santa Cruz of Sahuarita, Jio Orozco of Tucson Salpointe and Javier Medina of Sahuaro. Again, this is just a brief list. There are over three dozen college commits and at least four players who are sure to get drafted.

As of Tuesday, teams with two wins include Canyon del Oro, Oro Valley Ironwood Ridge, Tucson, Nogales, Oklahoma Blanchard, Tucson Sunnyside, Marana and Foothills.
