Final brackets determined for Desert Mtn. Softball Tourney

Four days of pool play ended Friday night and with that the championship and two consolation brackets are set for Saturday and the final day of the 14th Desert Mountain Softball Invitational.
Canyon del Oro finished as one of two unbeaten teams at 4-0 by rallying in the final three innings from 6-1 deficit to defeat Red Mountain, 7-6. CDO is the championship bracket top seed and will face No. 8 seed Mesquite (2-2) when that bracket opens play at 11 a.m on Saturday at Horizon Park.
The rest of the championship bracket, also played at 11 a.m., has No. 5 Pinnacle (4-0) vs. No. 4 Red Mountain (3-1); No. 6 Gilbert (3-1) vs. No. 3 Desert Mountain (3-1) and No. 7 Chaparral (3-1) vs. No. 2 Sabino (3-1). The CDO-Mesquite winner faces the Pinnacle-Red Mountain winner and the Gilbert-Desert Mountain winner takes on the Chaparra-Sabino winner in the semifinals at 3 p.m. The semifinal winners meet for the title at 7 p.m.
Here are the pairings for the consolation bracket (teams 9-16): No. 16 Centennial vs. No. 9 Basha; No. 13 Highland vs, No. 12 Ironwood Ridge; No. 14 Horizon vs. No. 11 Mesa Mtn. View and No. 15 Corona del Sol vs. No. 10 Notre Dame. All these games begin at 9 a.m. at Horizon Park.
The consolation bracket (teams 17-24) play Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at Desert Mountain High School. The 10 a.m. matchups ar No. 24 Seton vs. No. 21 Desert Vista and No. 23 Poston Butte vs. No. 22 St. Mary's. The winners and loser of those games meet at noon. The 2 p.m. games are No. 20 Mesa vs. No. 17 Chandler and No. 19 Queen Creek vs. No. 18 Saguaro. The winners and losers meet at 4 p.m.
