Desert Ridge baseball remains steady, formidable

Desert Ridge baseball coach Pat Herrera was not disappointed the Jaguars failed to win the Highland Triple Play Classic nearly two weeks ago.
That tournament was serving as a training ground for his mostly new team that is a two-time defending 5A champion (one in 5A-II and one in 5A-I).
Prior to the Highland tourney, Desert Ridge beat a couple of pretty fair programs in Chaparral and Brophy in power-point games. Returning to power-point games last week the Jaguars hammered Skyline and topped East Valley Region favorite Mountain Pointe and defending 5A-II champ Horizon to complete a 3-0 week. They also own a power-point win over Gilbert.
Desert Ridge is now 6-1 in power-point games and establishing itself at the very least as a team to think about come state tournament time.
