Flowing Wells Sports Hall of Fame will recognize six individuals & two teams

Flowing Wells High School will be inducting their Fourteenth class into the Sports Hall of Fame on Friday September 30, 2016. The induction ceremony will be prior to the football game against Amphitheater High School.
The inductees for the class of 2016 are:
Angel Corona– A 1986 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Angel earned three varsity letters in both Football and Baseball, two letters in Basketball. He was All-Region, All-City and All-State in both Football and Baseball. Angel was a member of the 1983 State Runner-up Football Team and also a member of Region Championship Teams in both Football and Baseball two years in a row. He currently holds the State Record for interceptions in a career at 27. Angel was named as a member of the Top Ten best football players in Flowing Wells History. Angel is currently the Branch Chief for the National Weather Service in Alaska. Angel is married to Barbara and they have two children Paige and Ken.
Cyndi Duran Valdez –A 2004 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Cyndi earned two varsity letters in both Volleyball and Basketball, four letters in Softball. She was a two-time All-First Team Southern Arizona Selection and a two–time Dr. Voie Coy Student-Athlete Award Winner. Cyndi was a member of the 2002 State Champion Softball Team that was ranked #1 in the nation. After high school, Cyndi attended the University of Kansas on a Softball Scholarship her freshman year. She then transferred to Pima Community College and her team won the National Championship in 2006. Cyndi then played for the University of Arizona where her teams were back to back NCAA National Champions. She was a member of National Championship teams at three different levels. Cyndi resides in Tucson and is married to Ricky and they have one child Taya.
Blake Eager – A 2000 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Blake earned one varsity letter in Basketball, three letters in Golf and two varsity letters in Baseball. He was chosen to the All-Region and All-City teams in Baseball and played in the State All-Star Baseball Game. After high school, Blake attended Eastern Arizona College where he made the NJCC All-Star Team. Blake then played for Metro State University. After college, Blake played professional baseball for five years in the New York Mets organization and one year with the Tucson Toros. He continues to stay involved with baseball coaching at Catalina Foothills High School and also with local club teams. Blake is married to Amber.
Rebekah Quiroz – A 2000 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Rebekah earned 12 Varsity Letters in Volleyball, Soccer and Softball. She is the only athlete to earn 4 Super Cab Awards. In Volleyball she made the All-Region and All-City Teams in 1999. In Soccer she was All-City four consecutive years and she was selected to the All-State Team three times. She led the state in scoring her freshman year with 30 goals. In softball she was selected to the All-City Team three years and the All-State Team two years as well as earning All-American honors her senior year. Rebekah was a member of two State Championship Softball Teams in 1999 and 2000. She was named the Arizona Daily Star Player of the Year in 2000. After high school, Rebekah went on to play for the University of Arizona and is currently the Associate Head Softball Coach for Pima Community College. Rebekah is married to Robert Filmore and they have 2 children
Jeff Watson – A 1986 graduate of Flowing Wells High School. In high school, Jeff was the Head Student Manager for both the Football and Basketball teams all four years. He was also the Sports Editor for the school newspaper, El Caballero during his senior year. After high school, Jeff became the first equipment manager for football and then all the sports at Flowing Wells. Jeff was responsible for ordering and maintaining all the equipment for every team. He then started the in-house laundry service to make sure all the game and practice equipment was taken care of properly. He was a member of the Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association and became a certified equipment manager in 1992. He was instrumental in developing all the practices and policies currently in place in that area. In 2002, Jeff was chosen as the District Employee of the Month and in 2003, Jeff was selected as the District 9 Equipment Manager of the Year. Jeff has also worked with several colleges and professional teams. Jeff currently resides in Tucson and works for Buddy’s All-Stars as a sports equipment Sales Rep.
Rhett Wilbur - A 1988 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Rhett earned one varsity letter in Baseball, three letters in Football and four letters in Basketball. He earned many players of the week awards in both Football and Basketball. He was also
All-Conference, All-City and All-State in both Football and Basketball. He was the team captain in both sports as well. He held the State record in 3-pointers during his career as well as several other basketball school records. He currently holds the school record for the longest touchdown pass, 97 yards. He was a member of the Division Champion Football team three years and Basketball and Baseball Division Champions one year each. In addition, Rhett was a member of multiple clubs and organizations during his high school years. He stays active in athletics by his role as an AIA official. Rhett currently resides in Tucson working in the customer service industry.
