2nd annual Bob Everett Baseball Classic

Dobson raced to an 11-0 lead and held on in the final innings Monday afternoon to defeat Williams Field, 11-7, on Day 2 of the 2nd annual Bob Everett Baseball Classic at Highland High School.
Zarren Snyder's three-run double highlighted a five-run, first inning for Dobson. Dobson (6-4) tacked on five more runs in the third with a two-run single by Bryce Vegh the key hit. Dobson's Jon Kimball reached base three times and scored three times in the leadoff spot. Ben Chasse added three singles and two RBI and winning pitcher Thomas Vicars chipped in with two doubles. Vicars pitched 5 2/3 innings scattering eight hits and five runs, one earned.
Williams Field (2-7), which played earlier Monday and lost to Marcos de Niza, 5-3, was led by Tony Banuelos with two doubles and three RBI. Nick Cupp added two hits and an RBI.
MESA MTN. VIEW 11, GILBERT 10: The game only made it through four innings due to time limit and the Toros (4-5) prevailed thanks to a four-run rally in the top of the fourth at Campo Verde HS.
Mountain View spotted Gilbert a 7-1 lead after one inning. Michael Anthony's three-run triple in the fourth was the game winner. Derek Anderson hit a three-run homer for Gilbert (3-8).
QUEEN CREEK 6, RED MOUNTAIN 2: Toren Craig slugged a first-inning home run and the Bulldogs went on to defeat the Mountain Lions (4-7) and win their ninth game without a loss.
Colton Cassinelli drove in two runs and Gavin Murrell and Danny Marshall collected two hits each and an RBI apiece. Heiden Heindricks combined with three other pitchers to limit Red Mountain to four hits and garnered the win. Marcus Christy and Sam Berry drove in runs for Red Mountain.
DESERT RIDGE 10, TEMPE 2: The Jaguars (3-8) broke open a close game with six runs in the fourth inning and knocked off the Buffaloes (2-10) at Mesquite HS.
Morgan DeMicco had three hits and three RBI for Desert Ridge. Branden Cohn picked up the win allowing two hits and two runs in five innings of work. Five other Desert Ridge players drove in a run each.
CAMPO VERDE 6, BASHA 2: Hayden Udall's two-run single broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning and the Coyotes went on to defeat the Bears at Campo Verde HS.
Udall finished with 3 RBI and worked five strong innings with seven strikeouts to pick up the win. Jason Marshall drove in both Basha runs with a solo homer in the second and single in the fourth.
DESERT VISTA 4, CAMPO VERDE 3: The Coyotes ended up with a split for the day as Luke Schwartz's third hit of the game drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Thunder remained unbeaten in pool play.
Schwartz drove in Hunter Tielke, who added two hits and scored twice. Zach Paquette knocked in two runs for Desert Vista and reliever Cole Newgaard got the decision with 1 2/3 innings of perfect relief. Newgaard fanned four of the five hitters he faced. Garrett Thornton and Tucker Williams drove in runs for Campo Verde, which couldn't hold a 3-0 lead after two innings.
CASA GRANDE, 5, BARTLESVILLE OK 5: Gil Luna hit a three-run homer to cap a five-run, fifth inning, but the Cougars couldn't hold a 5-1 lead and settled for a six-inning tie with the Bruins at Campo Verde HS.
HIGHLAND 12, CACTUS 4: Trey Cutchen tossed four innings of shutout relief, cranked out four hits and drove in two runs to help guide the Hawks past the Cobras at Highland HS.
Highland scored twice in the fifth to tie the game at 4 and battered Cactus in the sixth for eight runs. The Hawks' Connor Webster drove in four runs, Evan Sailer had three hits and Alex Krout checked in with two RBI.
HIGHLAND 10, FRANKLIN, TX 4: Another huge inning boosted the Hawks past the Cougars in the final game of the day at Highland HS.
Highland scored nine times in the third inning. Two Highland players contributed multiple hits and five of the team's 10 hits were for extra bases. Carson Cole led the way going 3-for-3 and Cutchen put the wraps on a big day with two more hits and two runs scored. Krout threw five innings and struck out five. He allowed four runs, all of them unearned as the Hawks struggled in the field with five errors.
MESA 3, MESQUITE 2: Christian Reynoso's single with two outs in the sixth inning plated the decisive run as the Jackrabbits edged the Wildcats at Mesquite HS.
Jacob Hanna Cody Tucker put Mesa up 2-0 with RBI in the first inning. Mesquite tied the game on a two-run homer in the fifth by Britt Fitzgerald. Hanna, who opened the season tossing a perfect game against Gila Ridge, worked six innings and earned the win. JJ Reeves pitched the seventh for the save.
